About the Artist
I am an artist living in Murfreesboro, TN with my husband Don, and our bulldog Oscar. I began studying art after retiring from a career in early childhood education, and have had the privilege of planning my own course of study, allowing me to benefit from the teaching expertise of a spectrum of accomplished, award-winning artists. In addition to nine years of local instruction in oil painting, I participate in workshops wherever and whenever I am able.
Artists with whom I have studied include Jim Aplin, Igor Babailov, Casey Baugh, Mia Bergeron, Anne Blair Brown, Roger Dale Brown, Rick Casali, Fiona Dowd, Paula Ford, Paula Frizbe, Max Ginsburg, Richard Greathouse, Seth Haverkamp, Dan Hosse, Shawn Krise, Michael Shane Neal, Conner O'Brien, Elizabeth Rogers, Janet Rogers, Arlene Shoemaker, Wayne Spradley, Pat Thompson, Susan Truex, Helen Vaughn, Mary Miller Veazie, Brett Weaver, the late Gordon Wetmore, and Dawn Whitelaw.
I am currently a member of Oil Painters of America, Women Painters of the Southeast, The Chestnut Group, and the Portrait Society of America. I have participated in group shows in middle Tennessee, and have paintings in both corporate and private collections throughout the south. I am continually learning, gaining inspiration from that which other artists past and present have created and shared with the world.
Painting is one of my primary vehicles for expressing the great love and appreciation I have for what I see in the external world. It is also a wonderful means for bringing tangible form to what wells up from the unconscious. I paint commissioned and non-commissioned portraits and figurative work, wildlife, pet portraits, landscapes, still life compositions, and abstract compositions. My preferred medium is oil and I also work in charcoal and pastel. In expressing myself through art, I have the opportunity to offer a visual portal for reflection, enjoyment and healing, and for this I have immense gratitude.
Currently accepting portrait commissions, I love getting to know each person as we go through the process of creating a portrait or figure painting that best reflects his or her unique character. For more information on my process, please go to "Portraits" in the main menu, and click on the subgroup link "Commissioned Portrait Procedures and Fees".
If you would like to commission a portrait or other work, or purchase a painting shown on my web site, please contact me and I will be delighted to talk with you.
